Nominee_.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The _Assistant Manager, PPIM _will support the _House Manager_ to
provide a safe, secure, homely environment where client s will
participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and
enjoy a lifestyle that fulfil their potential and expectations with
opportunity for new experiences.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

CLIENTS

* Supporting the _House Manager_ the _Supervisor_ will ensure that
the life of each client reflects the organisations core values and the
personal outcome measures.

* Dignity and respect,

* To accommodate the individuality of clients and encourage the
differences of personality and individual preferences.
* To act as an advocate for clients (both within the unit and in the
community) who have a difficulty in expressing their needs.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

* It is the responsibility of the _Supervisor_ to motivate and to
work with staff both as a team and on an individual basis to ensure
that there are very high standards of work practice within the house.
* To work closely with all staff, to have an excellent working
relationship with each staff member, to arrange when asked by _House
Manager_, to meet staff individually to discuss work through a
performance appraisal system at regular intervals, to support each
staff member in their role as keyworker.
* To identify any personnel issues arising within the house, to
ensure these are communicated to _House Manager_ promptly. Work with
the House Manager to address any issues that arise.
* The _Supervisor _will work closely with the _House Manager_ to
ensure all new recruits receive a full induction. The _Supervisor
_will have a role to play in the probation process for all new
recruits, volunteers and students.
* In conjunction with _House Manager_ the _Supervisor_ will identify
both individual and team training needs.
* The _Supervisor_ will meet with staff individually on a regular
basis to conduct support meetings. Any issues arising that cannot be
resolved at _Supervisor _level will be escalated to _House Manager_.
* The _Supervisor_ monitors that all staff are aware of and strictly
adhere to the rules of confidentiality concerning all client
information. Any concerns of preach of confidentiality are reported to
the _House Manager_.

UNIT RESPONSIBILITIES/ ADMINISTRATION

* The _Supervisor_ is responsible for the daily management of service
quality. The _Supervisor_ must, through her actions and attitudes,
promote a culture of quality driven service delivery.
* The _Supervisor_ must ensure that the house is maintained to a
very high standard. The need for maintenance should be reviewed
regularly. A very high standard of cleanliness should be maintained
within the house at all times.
* Each unit expends considerable resources, particularly in the area
of staffing. The _Supervisor_ has an important role in managing the
daily financial spending within the unit. The _Supervisor_ will assist
the _House Manager _to control expenditure through careful management
and close monitoring of rosters, relief staff management, annual
leave, sick leave etc.
* The _Supervisor_ will liaise with administrative support personnel
(Accounts, Salaries, agencies, etc.) should be complied with in a
timely manner, ensuring that a good working relationship exists at all
times.
* To have frontline responsibility for efficient management of petty
cash and client monies (DA etc.) .
* Participate in the developing of fundraising initiatives for the
service.
* The _Supervisor_ may delegate jobs within the house to other staff
members e.g. rota, return of hours, maintenance, stationery, first aid
etc. The _Supervisor_ retains ultimate responsibility to ensure that
these jobs are carried out satisfactorily.
* The _Supervisor_ work with the _House Manager_ to ensure that the
house conditions comply fully with the requirements of the Safety,
Health and Work Act (**Apply on the website**).
* To ensure that all channels of communication are working within
the house. All reports should be clear and concise and of a high
standard.
* All confidential information and reports need to be stored
appropriately i.e. in a locked cabinet.
* The _Supervisor_ is uniquely positioned to ensure the efficient
flow of information from management through to clients, front-line
staff and families.

TEAMWORK AND SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT

* The _Supervisor_ manages the unit team on a day-to-day basis,
reporting to the _House Manager_ for guidance. The_ Supervisor_ drives
a culture of quality through her actions and attitude. The _Supervisor
_motivates the team with an emphasis on maximising performance and
effective running of the unit. She will have to ensure that all staff
interact with clients in a manner which demonstrates all aspects of
the key worker role.
* As, _Supervisor_ you will be employed within a team of colleagues
to provide a **Apply on the website**-hour, 7-day per week service to
people with a learning disability. As such you will be required to
work according to a Roster, which will be drawn up by management.
Rosters will be managed according to the needs of clients and may
change from time to time accordingly.
* You will also be required to provide On-call duties as part of a
Roster system.

working relationships with other members.
* To respect other team members and to accept equal responsibility
in maintaining the highest quality of work practice within the house.
* Manage all health and safety issues at local level, escalating any
issues to management that cannot be resolved at local level.
* Promote, monitor and maintain systems of quality within the unit.
Work with staff as a team and on individual basis to ensure that staff
practice reflects the ethos of quality.
* The _Supervisor_ will ensure that the health and safety of clients
and staff is maintained at all times.
* Manage a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness at all times
within the unit through close supervision of the staff team as well as
the systems of work in place.
* Must be aware of and use all channels and forms of communication
in operation within the house.
* Write reports in a manner consistent with the format and standard
approved by the organisation.
* Carry out delegated areas of responsibility and be accountable for
continuity at all times.
* Remain committed to on-going training and development.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

* Familiarise self with all policy, procedure and guidelines and
incorporate these into work practices.
* Ensure staff are aware of and comply with Little Angels
Association policies in conducting their work

LIAISING WITH CLINIC TEAM

* Maintain a good and effective working relationship with the named
clinical team.
* Take part in regular resident reviews through a multi-disciplinary
team approach.
* Assist the _House Manager_ to highlight particular needs of
clients within the house, which could require clinical intervention
either immediately or in the future so that a good quality of life for
all can be maintained. Medical and pharmacological needs of clients
should be carefully attended to.
* Attend Unit Management Committee meetings as advised by _House
Manager._
* The _Supervisor_ must, through her behaviour and attitude, promote
family involvement, establish and maintain a supportive relationship
in the best interests of the resident.

KEYWORKER

* To fulfil a key worker role for nominated clients.
* To complete the individual programme planning with service users
based on the _assessment of need_ and to ensure that the necessary
supports are put in place to achieve these outcomes.
* To teach service users about their rights on a day-to-day basis
and to ensure that they are treated fairly at all times.
* To promote the best possible health ensuring that the necessary
preventative measures are taken to educate people served about
positive approach to healthy living.
* To encourage clients to experience new and challenging
opportunities.
* To maintain appropriate links to the family
* Play an active role in assessing and accessing the most
appropriate support services for client.
* Maintain regular contact with Day Unit staff and or other staff
involved in clients care.
* To observe and pay particular attention to the medical needs of
the client and to ensure they are attended to properly.
* Assist and support the client in the management of everyday living
matters (e.g. managing money/ personal belongings etc).
* Encourage client to make use of local facilities.
* Be a positive role model and demonstrate to the public that people
with a learning disability have similar rights and needs, and should
be seen in a positive light, within their community.
* The keyworker must provide a varied well balanced diet,
appropriate to clients needs.
* Clients must be encouraged to participate in all household duties
where possible.

SUPPORT

It is important that the _Supervisor _is aware of the supports

Refer all matters/ issues of concern to the _House Manager_ as first
line local manager. In absence of _House Manager_, contact
chairperson/provider nominee, where necessary.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
The _Supervisor_ takes responsibility for daily running of the unit,

PRINCIPLE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A Social Care qualification Level 8 (or equivalent) is essential.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
2 years previous experience of working with people with a learning
disability in a residential setting is essential to this role.
1 year experience of managing/supervising a team of people.

OTHER INFORMATION
_Little Angels Association_ provides a number of compulsory training
courses, to support the health and safety of clients and staff (egg
back care, safe administration of medication, first aid etc). There
will be an ongoing requirement to attend training in the furtherance
of professionalism and skills.
